Jonathan Trobe, MD, is an emeritus professor of ophthalmology, neurology, and neurosurgery at the University of Michigan. He occupies the Musson Research Professorship in Neuro-Ophthalmology. Board-certified in ophthalmology and neurology in the United States, he is a past editor of the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, the official journal of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. He has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals, covering a wide range of subjects in his field, and authored of several books, among them THE NEUROLOGY OF VISION, RAPID DIAGNOSIS IN NEURO-OPHTHALMOLOGY, and CLINICAL DECISIONS IN NEURO-OPHTHALMOLOGY. He holds numerous teaching awards, including the Kaiser Permanente Award For Excellence in Clinical Teaching from the University of Michigan. His other teaching website, called THE EYES HAVE IT, covers general ophthalmology and is widely used across the world. In an academic career that has spanned over 50 years, he has helped to train over 500 resident physicians and over 40 neuro-ophthalmology fellows.
